Two numbers explain most of how a slot behaves: RTP and volatility.
RTP (return to player)
RTP is the percentage of wagers a slot pays back over a very long time. A 96% RTP means an average of 96 coins returned per 100 wagered. It says nothing about any single session.
Volatility
Volatility (or variance) describes how wins are distributed. Low-volatility slots pay small wins often. High-volatility slots pay less often but can pay much more.
Choosing games
- Low volatility suits longer, steadier play.
- High volatility suits chasing big hits with more swings.
- Check the game’s info screen for RTP: some casinos show it.
